Ecdysis: the Decadence of an Era

𓆸 The key inspiration for this project was the notion of unease during the times of the pandemic—assuming the role of a spectator, bearing witness to how society’s over-indulgence in comfort stagnated our natural proclivity for change; our yearning for the new.

“Pupa” is the shell of the larvae. When a butterfly blossoms from it, a transformation of its lifestyle—its beauty.
As humans we too can turn into butterflies and soar freely through the night, though there will be new, immediate danger: birds that will swallow them up whole.I want to move forward.

Should we as humans seek change? We could always stay in the comfort of our homes—our shells made of memories and nostalgia, and sleep for all eternity. But then again, personally, I would always wonder about what could have been if I had taken off.
To be brave. Charge into the world of danger and the new. Fear the birds of the sky and love the freedom in flight toward the unknown. Be eaten; be free. Because at the very least, I feel—that is what it means to be alive.
